Our Book Club provides a fun and relaxed environment to share your passion of reading with others. We meet on the last Thursday of the month from 12.30 – 14.00.
Copies of the month’s title are available to borrow from the circulation desk throughout the month, so if you are unable to make a particular meeting you are welcome to pick up the book and then join us at the next meeting to discuss it.
The Book Club is suitable for people aged 16+ and new members are always welcome.
Some of the titles we have discussed in the past include:
Set in seventeenth century Amsterdam—a city ruled by glittering wealth and oppressive religion—a masterful debut steeped in atmosphere and shimmering with mystery, in the tradition of Emma Donoghue, Sarah Waters, and Sarah Dunant.
From the award-winning author of Half of a Yellow Sun, a dazzling new novel: a story of love and race centered around a young man and woman from Nigeria who face difficult choices and challenges in the countries they come to call home.
‘The Silver Linings Playbook’ is the riotous and poignant story of how one man regains his memory and comes to terms with the magnitude of his wife’s betrayal.
A masterpiece, a dazzling social satire, and a milestone in twentieth century literature, The Great Gatsby peels away the layers of the glamorous twenties in the U.S. to display the coldness and cruelty at its heart.
