National Databank
You could be eligible to a free SIM Card pre-loaded with mobile data, talk minutes and texts, for 6 months. The SIM cards are provided by Vodafone, Three and O2.
You must be 18+, from a low income household (proof of eligibility required) and qualify in at least one of the following statements:
- Has no access or insufficient access to the internet at home
- Has no or insufficient access to the internet away from home
- Cannot afford your existing monthly contract or top-up
National Device bank
You could be eligible to receive a free mobile phone.
You must be 18+, from a low income household (proof of eligibility required) and not already have access to a mobile phone.
To apply, you will need to complete an application form and provide evidence of eligibility.
What you’ll need to bring
Unemployed and in receipt of one of the following benefits:
- Universal Credit (including means tested benefits such as Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction, Carers Allowance)
- Job Seekers Allowance
- Employment Support Allowance
- Income Support
- State pension
Proof of benefit:
- a recent benefit award letter dated within the last 3 months or;
- a bank statement dated within the last 3 months that shows receipt of benefit payment, (if the award letter is more than 3 months old or can’t be provided)
Low income – employed on a low wage:
- Earning less than the Living Wage of £11.44 per hour. If working full time (37.5 hours per week) earning a gross annual salary of £22,308 or less.
Proof of income:
- Payslips (dated within last 3 months) or;
- bank statements showing salary
All phone/SIM recipients must personally visit the library to fill out their own application forms. Others cannot apply or collect on their behalf.
